• Site Description

      The Chemtronics Site was included on the first official National Priorities List (NPL) published by the EPA in Dec 1982. Operated by Oerlikon Tool and Arms, Celanese Corp., Northrop Carolina Inc., Amcel Propulsion Inc., and finally Chemtronics Inc. a subsidiary of the Halliburton Company.

• Landslides

      As a direct result of the 2024 Hurricane Helene Disaster, a significant mass wasting event occured in the vicinity of the site. Specifically, in an area near a suspected rocket motor disposal site.
